Nobody puts Baby in the corner...

OMFG!!! Dirty Dancing is on the telly right now!!!! *Screams wildly, like the obsessive prepubescent fan of some generic pop group.*

Long term readers will know of my passion for really trashy 80's movies... in particular Top Gun and Dirty Dancing. I go absolutely wild for both these movies and I know them both by heart. (Sad, I know.) A few years ago when I fractured vertebrae in my back and was bed bound, I watched Dirty Dancing 3 times in 2 days!!! And I still love it!!!

I love it! I love it!! I love it!!!

Yes, I am a total dork sometimes.

As promised, here are a couple of photos of my "noo doo". Now, I'm not much of a photographer (particularly a self photographer), and I'm even less impressive as a model, however these photos aren't too bad really. They don't quite show how bright the colours in my hair are, but I've definitely managed to get decent shots to show off my interesting bob / wonky bowl cut (which is very short in the back), and how straight and tidy my normally curly and unruly hair is.

I saw my grandmother today who told me that she hated the colour and the cut, but she liked the straight hair. So I've decided that the colour and the cut are keepers, and the tidy straight look goes! :o) The straight look is kinda growing on me (well of course it is, it's my hair!!! haha!) but it's too much to maintain for everyday wear unless I get my hair chemically straightened, which I won't do because I'm too fond of my curls at the moment. I'm not too sure how it's going to look when I go back to the curls tomorrow... I may have to post a photo comparison later in the week.

I'm off to go dance in front of the TV now.

I carried a watermelon.

Well, I shared this brilliant post, but then realized I backed out of your blog before I sent it.

I went on and on about how lovely your hair looks (yes, it does), and even shared the fact that I watched Dirty Dancing three times this week. Well, parts of the movie during three different showings. It was on VH1 this week.

visiting from michele's.

visiting from Michele's....I like the hair. I would love to get a cool, funky do, but alas...corporate America probably wouldn't approve.

I think yellojkt's "very kicky" is the phrase of the week. I'm going to have to use it in a sentence tomorrow.

Hey Yaeli. I hail from Michele's. Nice hair - although I'm partial to curly over straight - it looks great on you.

LOL! I watched Roadhouse last night, also a high-quality 80's flick, although perhaps slightly more of a man-movie, than a chick-flick.
Here via Michele's...Love the colours in your hair!

Did Michele send me? Sort of. Not exactly, but that's OK. I haven't seen that movie in forever. I should tell my MythTV to pick up old movies like that. Did I just say "old" -- I guess I'm "old" too!

Hi Michele sent me.

Hair's a tricky thing isn't it. Doesn't hair always have that sort of unnaturally tamed look when newly coiffed? Looks tamely professiona tho. My Hub's hair whenever he gets is relaxed starts curling agains within the week.
Have a good night.

Holy CRAP, Yaeli. I didn't even realize that was YOU! What a change. Wow.

I loved your hair before however this look is far sleeker and more mature. Sexy too though that might be the cleavage having an insidious affect on me! LOL Men are so easy!

I think I still like the old cut better but I have a huge, I mean HUGE, predilection for wild tangled hair. You should see my girlfriend's mane. It's amazing.

You sure are lovely either way, Yaeli. :-)

Congrats on the new hair: I think it looks awesome. Your grandma will come around.

All hair is temporary, anyway. A little time and money can make it all different and new.

Here from Michele's tonight. It's always a kick to visit you.

Michele sent me to you again, Yaeli. Fate? Or just not many people blogging right now?

The "Nobody puts Baby in the corner" line was pretty good but I really wish she didn't have such a bad nickname. Baby? I know they were trying to convey how she was viewed as a kid compared to her older sister--but 'Baby'? What teenager would allow that?

I grew up a few hours north of the area where the movie was supposedly taking place. I don't think it was actually filmed in the Catskills but I'm not sure. A lot of movies like that are now filmed where I live now, in North Carolina.
