Two down... two to go.

Woohoo!!! I have completed two of my four exams and now I'm exam free until Thursday. :oD

Yesterday it was two weeks til I leave for Vanuatu! I'm trying to pretend it isn't happening at the moment so that I can focus on my exams as best as possible, but every so often excitement and panic sneak in and surprise me for a few minutes. I'm loving the excitement and not so loving the panic.

Aginoth, and several other friends of mine, asked whether I will be able to blog from where I'm going. The short answer is No. Because i'll be doing work in remote communities with little to no electricity, so I don't think there'll be many computers available. I may get a chance to pop into a net cafe in Port Vila in the first week that I arrive, but after that i'll be technology free. My mum is panicking because I may not even have access to a phone to call home. It's a pretty cool thought really... Can you imagine the girl who feels lost without her mobile phone, living on an island with very few telecommunications? You've gotta laugh at that!!!

Tomorrow, I'll post about what projects I have been offerred to do and which Islands they are on. :o) That'll be the most information I have about where I'm going until I arrive in Port Vila! It's all happening!!!!

P.S. Don't forget to pop back and check out my surprise on the 28th!!!

That's right. We have that surprise just around the corner.

I think the lack of phones, computers and the other conveniences we take for granted would be such a grounding experience. I am so envious of your adventure, and so awestruck by your committment to participate in such a program.

Good luck on the rest of the exams!

Yaeli, how long will you be in Vanuatu?

It sounds like a wonderful trip, and I know from seeing Survivor it is a beautiful place. However will you survive without your computer?

If you really want to keep the phone--and it's got a network to work with on that island--you can always pickup a solar cellphone charger. They're not all that expensive. There's also little things that convert AA battery current to recharge a phone. Of course 2 weeks isn't very long to go without a phone, Yaeli. You're very brave to do this!

WOW! To be young again. I think life is absolutely better the further we get away from technology. (except in case of emergency, of course)
I hope you have a spectacular trip & I can't wait to read about it.
I'll be back to read about your surprise.

I used to use Vanuatu as an inside joke about obscure out of the way places. No I know of someone that has actually been there.

Small world.

Keep a diary, Yaeli, then you can tell us all about it when you are back in civilisation!

Good luck with your remaining exams.

And, if I don't catch you before you go, have a good trip!
